Our organization is 501(c)9 status by the IRS under the following charter:

  • We are an organization of past and present members of the United States Armed Forces
  • At least 75 percent of its members must be past or present members
    of the United States Armed Forces
  • At least 97.5 percent of our members must be:
    • present or former members of the United States Armed Forces and our namesake,
    • spouses, widows, widowers, ancestors, or lineal descendants
      of individuals referred to in the first or second bullet of our namesake
  • We will operate exclusively for one or more of the following purposes:
    • to promote the social welfare of the community (e.g., to promote the common good and general welfare of the people of the Bunker Hill community)
    • to provide the welfare of the Bunker Hill Community
    • to carry on programs to perpetuate the memory of deceased veterans of our namesake and comfort their survivors
    • to sponsor or participate in activities of a patriotic nature
    • to provide social and recreational activities for members
  • No part of its net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or
    individual.
  • All proceeds will go to funding the above items as well as slight operating costs for web, email, or other member-only related activities
  • You must be a member to vote
  • You must be a member to hold a board position

Members will receive:

  • A CG-52 USS Bunker Hill Association logoed T-shirt (2024/5)
  • Advanced access to gear not available at the ship store
  • Access to any affinity programs we negotiate (made available via a members-only site)
  • Access to an online quarterly and annual meeting where:
    • The annual budget will be presented and voted
    • A presentation of expenditures for the prior period
    • Pressing matters will be heard by members (requests, gripes)
    • A goal for the upcoming year (regional events, major reunions, or campaigns to drive membership and ships complement participation)
    • Other items that will be identified as needed
    • Online voting will be managed during the meeting to provide results during the meeting
    • Formation of committees for events/welfare/recreation
